  • Most day-one streams of an album on Spotify (184.6 million streams)
  • Most streamed act on Spotify in 24 hours (228 million streams)

Less than 24 hours after Midnights was released on 21 October 2022, the album had already received over 153.4 million streams, and went on to receive over 30 million more streams before the day was over.

Taylor Swift’s total includes the number of streams for the standard 13-track album (161.5 million) and the additional seven songs on the “3am Edition” (23.1 million).

Eight older tracks including the hits “Blank Space” and “Cruel Summer” each racked up more than one million streams per day, adding an additional 9.6 million streams to Taylor’s already impressive 24-hour total and making her the newest record holder for the most streamed act on Spotify in 24 hours.

Sung entirely in Spanish, the track is the fourth single from her album Versions of Me, and first went viral on social media after a dance challenge was created with the song’s choreography.

Never before had the world seen a Spotify song played so many times in a single day in Brazil, with 4.1 million of the 6.3 million plays on the daily chart (25) coming from the South American country.

The influential Latin star even earned herself a place in the new Guinness World Records 2023 edition!

Adele

Chart-topping superstar Adele has one of the most recognisable voices in the pop scene.

The British singer-songwriter has managed to turn her heartbreak into some of the world’s greatest hits, earning multiple record titles in the process.

After more than four years of silence, Adele returned with her soulful, emotive voice and brought us the album 30

At the BRIT (British Record Industry Trust) Awards 2022, hosted at The O2 Arena in 2022 February, the hit singer racked up an iconic on-stage performance and three record titles:

Harry Styles

Dubbed the new “King of Pop”, by Rolling Stone UK, Harry Styles’ voice, charm, and charisma has struck a chord with fans around the world.

So much so, in fact, that his single “As It Was”, released on 1 April 2022, was an instant success and quickly racked up millions of streams.

A blend of retro ‘80s echoes and contemporary upbeat sounds, the song accumulated 16,103,849 streams during its first 24 hours on Spotify, earning the record for the most streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours (male).

The song was so popular, it was the top track in 34 countries, with 8.3 million streamers in the USA, 1,247,683 streams in the UK, and 1,168,896 streams in Mexico.

“As It Was” also managed to stay No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 15 weeks—a feat only ever topped by three other songs.

BTS

Global superstars BTS continued making record-breaking history throughout 2022.

Aside from having improved their previous most Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards blimps won by a music group title after breaking it for the second year in a row with six blimps, the South Korean boyband also smashed an additional three records in just the first few months of the year:

  • Most followers on Instagram for a music group
  • Most followers on Twitter for a music group
  • Most followers on TikTok for a music group

The K-pop band, who was part of the Guinness World Records Hall of Fame in 2022, has quite an impressive following.

As of 21 February 2022, they had reached 44,167,059 followers on Twitter, 60,151,959 followers on Instagram as of 22 February 2022, and 49 million followers on TikTok as of 14 April 2022.

Not only are the Bangtan Boys the kings of K-pop, but undoubtedly the kings of social media as well, having cultivated a multi-language fan base that is groundbreaking and unheard of.

But BTS’s record breaking achievements don’t stop there.

In fact, BTS has smashed dozens of records since the group first debuted in 2013, earning a whopping 13 in 2021!

The film music awards “triple crown” is winning an Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy for music created specifically for a film.

Eilish achieved the titles with her single “No Time to Die”, created for the latest James Bond blockbuster of the same name starring Daniel Craig, Rami Malek and Léa Seydoux.

The song was co-written by Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell’, who both made the achievement memorable by performing the number together at the Oscars, staged at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, USA.
