Carrboro Music Competition returns with more than 100 bands just after earlier COVID-19 cancellations

For the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Carrboro New music Festival is back again.

Returning for its 25th anniversary, the competition will acquire spot this Sunday in downtown Carrboro with above 100 audio teams in attendance. It will host performers in in excess of 15 indoor and outside spots beginning at 1 p.m.

It will also hold a Hip-Hop Showcase hosted by rap artist SkyBlew in the Cat’s Cradle Back again Area from 2 to 10 p.m.

“The Tunes Pageant is a neighborhood effort and hard work in Carrboro,” Carrboro Recreation Supervisor Jeremy Poythress said. “We count on the local community, specifically musicians, host spots and suppliers to logistically put all the going sections of arranging with each other.”

Poythress and the relaxation of the Carrboro Department of Recreation, Parks & Cultural Sources are coordinating performance spots and planning infrastructure for the Songs Competition.

Thomas Szypulski, the lead vocalist of the band, claimed they have only skipped two festivals, not counting decades throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“It is just great to wander all around Carrboro all day and listen to music,” he said. 

Szypulski described the style of Sound Program 7 as encompassing American, Caribbean and British Ska. Getting a 4th-wave band, they participate in audio from all eras of the Ska movement and have initial music that can be found on the band’s Spotify page.

He extra that the band is active and usually performs close to North Carolina. 

“We do what we do, we perform what we perform, and we have pleasurable accomplishing it,” Syzpulski reported.

Sound Method Seven will engage in at the Carrboro Songs Pageant in the Carrboro Town Commons at 6:15 p.m. 

While many veteran bands like Seem Technique Seven are returning to this year’s Carrboro Music Festival, bands like the Twits, dependent in Carrboro, are accomplishing for the 1st time.

“I saw the software to participate in at the pageant and I considered, ‘Why not?’ So I utilized and our band received in and which is just genuinely interesting,” Jean Cronin of the Twits mentioned.

The Twits play the Carrboro Century Centre at 4:45 p.m.

“Carrboro values musicians and artists in general and I’m fired up to see this introduced to light-weight in the competition,” he reported.
